FREEDOM COLLECTIVE THERAPY ACCESS FUND
Therapy fully funded.
A charitable initiative in development, created to expand access to high-quality, culturally responsive, trauma-informed mental health care by removing the cost of therapy for people experiencing financial hardship.
IN
DEVELOPMENT.
Not discounted. Funded.
Most efforts to make therapy more affordable reduce the price of a session. The Access Fund is being designed to cover 100% of the eligible cost of psychotherapy for approved participants during their approved period of assistance, so that financial hardship does not interrupt clinically appropriate treatment.
Eligibility will be determined through objective financial-need and program criteria, with priority given to people who are uninsured, underinsured, experiencing significant financial hardship, or facing barriers to finding culturally responsive providers.

Who it's for
People for whom cost determines whether therapy begins, continues, or ends.
What it covers
The full cost of eligible psychotherapy during an approved period of assistance.
Where it starts
New York City and the surrounding region, expanding as capacity grows.
Our goal is not to promise access before the infrastructure exists to sustain it. Our goal is to build access intentionally, transparently, and in a way that can last.
The Fund has intentionally not begun accepting charitable contributions or awarding financial assistance. We are establishing the right structure first: financial oversight, eligibility determination, documentation, charitable fund management, program evaluation, and accountability to both donors and recipients.
We are awaiting fiscal sponsorship, which will provide the charitable framework to receive tax-deductible contributions, pursue institutional grants, and document how charitable resources are used. Until it is in place, we are not accepting contributions.
Over the longer term, we intend to expand beyond our own clinicians, so that funded care can follow an eligible person to a participating provider chosen for clinical need, specialty, cultural responsiveness, identity, geography, and preference.
Current status: in development. The Access Fund is not yet accepting applications or donations. We will share eligibility, availability, and how to apply as the initiative grows.
WHY THIS FUND EXISTS
Our name carries a story. John Frank Mclaurin, the grandfather of our founder, showed up for people, listened deeply, and understood the importance of connection. The Access Fund is one way that legacy takes shape. Read our full story →
The Freedom Collective Therapy Access Fund is awaiting fiscal sponsorship. Until that relationship is finalized, the Fund is not accepting charitable contributions and no gifts are being solicited. Once sponsorship is in place, contributions for the charitable purposes of the Fund will be made to our fiscal sponsor and will be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
