Shahem Mclaurin, LCSW
Shahem is a Black, queer therapist stationed in Brooklyn, New York. Shahem earned their Master’s in Social Work from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work and two Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Women's and gender Studies at Towson University. Centering positionality in a capitalistic, White supremacist, patriarchal society, Shahem assists marginalized, patriarchy-impacted people in coping with the stress and trauma of it all.
Shahem approaches healing through a multifaceted, identity-focused lens. By utilizing modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Shahem centers the community in the therapeutic journey while emphasizing a strengths-based perspective.
I am currently in network with several insurance plans and also work with out-of-network benefits. To see my current availability and schedule an appointment, please submit an inquiry or schedule a consult!
